How much coffee should women drink pregnancy?

The answer is maximum 200mg/ day. This is equivalent to 2 cups of coffee.

  • Research has found that caffeine can cause blood vessels in the uterus and placenta to constrict, which could reduce the blood supply to the fetus and inhibit growth

  • Caffeine has been linked to miscarriages and low birth weight in babies

  • Over 500mg of caffeine a day has been linked to subfertility

  • Caffeine can also interfere with sleep for mother and baby

Caffeine is not only found in coffee, but also found in teas, soft drinks, chocolate, and high energy drinks
