5 Ways to Support Your Body After a Miscarriage & Post-Abortion Support

  1. Rest & Relaxation. It is important to rest and recovery after a miscarriage. Your body will undergo physical & hormonal changes during the first couple of months. You should also give yourself time to grieve during this time period.

    1. Relaxation techniques can include: Massage therapy, aromatherapy (Jasmine & Salvia), Epsom Salt Baths, Journalling, prayer, exercise & music therapy

  2. Counselling. Counselling, CBT, speaking to a doctor is advised during this grieving period.

  3. Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture. Studies have found acupuncture to be effective therapy for women who have experienced miscarriage or abortion. Acupuncture increase blood flow and can help reduce pain and discomfort, as well as reduce anxiety and depression. TCM herbs have also been effective in treating miscarriage & post-abortion procedures.

    3. You may be low in iron because of blood loss. Eat a balanced diet that is high in iron and vitamin C. Foods rich in iron include red meat, shellfish, eggs, beans, and leafy green vegetables. Foods high in vitamin C include citrus fruits, tomatoes, and broccoli.

    4. Food to avoid: raw, cold foods & alcohol
